My Adventure on the Golf Course

Yesterday, I hit the golf course for my very first round of 18 holes. Thank goodness that it was a scramble! Phew!

Here are a few of the highlights or even lowlights.

 

• I managed to not roll the golf cart over. However, I came close several and I mean several times. It was my goal to teach my golf partner the importance of trust.

• At times, I hit the ball farther than my old boss and others that have golfed before.

• I struggled big time on what to wear to the golf course. I know, I know. Women! :)

• I personally kicked butt when it came to trash talking on the course.

• The golf nazi yelled at us a few times. He surely needs to learn how to loosen up 

• I lost three golf balls. One in the water and two in the woods. Is that normal?

Me + Golfing = Quite Comical

                                       This might come as a surprise but I am not a golf fanatic. Yes, it is hard to believe, eh?!

On Friday, September 18th I will be heading out to a golf course all the way out in Romeo. I will be clueless as to how this leisurely activity is suppose to work. The last time (and only time) I went golfing I only made it to the third hole. My brother didn't have enough patience with me and dragged me off the course.

So, September 18th should be quite comical!

My Spare Time

Summers are chaotic for me! My work load is doubled and to some point tripled over the summertime. It is crazy!

Here is what I have been up to in my spare time.

                               

Because I am tearing it up with my budget, I was given suite tickets to the Detroit Tigers game against the White Sox over the past weekend. Wow! Breaking a sweat at work actually paid off!

                                

I purchased the coolest hat ever at the Farmington Freedom Festival. Yes, that brown thing is a hat. It is made out of cardboard. No joke!

Saving Gas Money and Burning Some Butter

Just recently, I purchased a bike. I came up with the creative goal of biking to work at least once a week. This way, I will save on gas money and burn some butter at the same time. How smart is that?!

My sister-in-law told my father and he responded, "what a bird brain idea!" I beg to differ.

This week was week two of biking to work. It is a 45 minute bike ride there and back. I have a few major roads that I need to cross. Here is what stinks.

• I had to go off roading a few times because the sidewalk ends out of nowhere. Ridiculous!
• Sprinkler systems are not fun
• Large puddles 
• People stare at me all the stinkin time
• Biking almost 6 miles to work AND THEN biking 6 miles home from work

So, can anyone drive me home from work today? I am exhausted. :)

WD-40

Did you know that the main ingredient in WD-40 is fish oil? I personally would of never guessed that or even wanted to know that.

My mother just sent my sister in a law and I an e-mail that gives several ways WD-40 can be put to good use.

 

• It keeps flies off of cows
• Restores and cleans chalkboards
• Removes lipstick stains
• Loosens stubborn zippers
• Removes stains from stainless steel sinks
• Bug guts will eat away the finish on your car if not removed quickly. Use WD-40!
• Removes all traces of duct tape
• It attracts fish. Spray a little on live bait or lures and you will be catching the big one in no time. This approach is illegal in some states.
• It is great for removing crayon from walls. Spray on the mark and wipe with a clean rag.

The Wedding Dress

So, over the past year I've been storing a wedding dress at my place. No, it's not my wedding dress but I along with another woman purchased it. Yeah, it is hard to explain. The dress was for someone that we were mentoring.

Anyways, every time I had guests over they would ask about the dress. I would swear up and down that it wasn't mine but nobody would believe me. Unbelievable!

Here is the deal. The woman who was suppose to get married isn't anymore. So, now I have a dress hanging in my place that will not be put to good use. Sad, isn't it?

Do you know of anyone that would like to purchase this brand new dress that has never been worn? Willing to sell it for $100.00. Any takers?

My Biggest Fear

I went on a nature trail with a friend of mine over the weekend. It was a perfect day to hit the great outdoors. 

We went out on about a 5 mile trail and we saw all kinds of wildlife. Turtles, ducks, all types of birds, and butterfies. I was enjoying every minute of it until we ran into two snakes. Yeah, not good!

I screamed. Pushed my friend into the snake. Screamed again. Then laughed.

Need a Break at Work?

There are times when one's energy starts to wane when they have been working on a big project. It is so hard to concentrate when that happens. Here are a few suggestions on how to take a break to regain some energy:

• Play dodgeball with your co-workers

• Bust out singing and/or dancing in the workplace

• Take 5 minutes to shoot the breeze with a co-worker

• Let voicemail take your calls and take a 5-10 minute nap in your office 

• Take a walk

• Re-organize your office

• Drink coffee!

I Became One of Them

Years ago, I made a promise to myself. I promised myself that I wouldn't become one of them. I absolutely did not want to become one of those women that dressed in their business suits while wearing tennis shoes. The look is absolutely horrible. I vowed that I would never do that.

I am embarrassed to admit that I broke that promise yesterday. I flew out of the Detroit airport at 6:45 a.m. having to wear a suit. I was forced to become one of them seeing that I along with my competition had 15 minutes when we landed in Cincinnati to catch a connecting flight to Baltimore. I had to wear my black pair of tennis shoes while carrying my high heals seeing that I was just gone for the day and I had very little time to catch my connecting flight. Not good!

I broke my promise and I admit that I looked hideous. May that never ever happen again!

Happy Birthday!

Today marks Mickey Mouse's 80th Birthday! This sweet little mouse has become one of the most identifiable symbols in the world.

In honor of Mickey Mouse, I have decided to talk like him for the whole day. Or maybe I should say Minnie Mouse? O.k., I admit it. It is not by choice. My voice went away after standing out in the freezing cold in the middle of I-75 last helping out with a car accident. Not good!

A Trip to the Orchard

                               

                              

Apple orchards are the best! I always looked forward to going to them when I was a kid. It was all about the smell of cider, yummy donuts, climbing the apple trees, and even taking in the smell of rotten apples. O.k., maybe I am stretching it a bit. ;)

Yesterday, we took a field trip to the orchard and we had a blast. It has been years since I have been apple picking. I really enjoyed picking one apple from the tree and in result five apples landed on my head. I laughed and I laughed hard. I also enjoyed playing the game of how many apples can I throw at Josh before he got really mad it me. It was a fun game! You should try it sometime. It is all about being creative at the apple orchard. Never a dull moment!

Afterwords, we ended up tearing it up in my kitchen. We baked two homemade apple pies. Yummy! On top of that, I made my grandma's famous applesauce where you add a dash of this and a dash of that. Yummy! 

In My Face

Summer time is one of the busiest seasons of the year for me when it comes to my career. We serve hundreds upon hundreds of children in my youth sport leagues, gymnastics classes, preschool classes, and in the summer day camps. During the summer, I step it up a few notches when it comes to multi-tasking.  

This year's day camp season was one of the best for me. My staff team kicked butt and the kids were unforgettable. The kid's developed new friendships, acquired new skills, and even gained more confidence throughout the summer.

I was so happy to see them all grow over the past few months. I felt like a proud mother on the last day of camp. I was so proud of them that I let the kids throw pies in my face. This was the first time ever I had a pie in my face. What was I thinking?  

Putt Putt Revamped

Have you ever tried putt putt without the club?

You should! Last night we hit the putt putt course and it was hilarious. I ended up getting a hole in one this way.

Sometimes we just need to throw a twist or two in certain activities to add a bit of humor.

The Honey Do Whistle

                               

Misty and Tony from the Monday Night Coffee Shop group are getting hitched in August. I love seeing friendships and even relationships develop out of our group.

I am so proud of myself. I found the best little present to help their marriage out. It is a Honey Do Whistle. How sweet is that?

Misty got a kick out of the whistle but not so much with Tony. I wonder why. Hmmmm.........

A Fantastic Fourth of July

No words can express on how much fun I had yesterday. I was like a little kid trapped in a body of a......well I am not going to mention the age. The day consisted of laying out in the sun, invading two bbqs gatherings, catching up with friends that I haven't seen in a long long time, going on an extensive ride on a motorcycle, and watching battle of the fireworks between neighbors.

My friend's neighbors have some serious competitive juices in them when it comes to the Fourth of July and fireworks. Now, I am not talking about little street fireworks. I am talking about thousands of dollars of fireworks. They are the kind you see at the city. Last night, the neighbors went at it. It was all about who had the best display and it was unforgettable!

I Made the Mothers Cry!

Well, it was a success! We ran our very first Mothers Day Mother Son Dance at the Y last night and it was a hit. My goal was to make the mothers feel special and to make them cry. It worked!  Mission accomplished! Tons of couples attended and they are now asking for a Daddy-Daughter dance!

The mothers and their sons were decked out in their outfits. We had a dj for the dance, pictures, snacks, punch, and the gym was full of decorations. At the end of the evening, every son gave their mother an iris and hugged them while wishing them a happy Mothers Day. It was beautiful!

                                             

Seeing that I am not a mother yet, I kidnapped these two handsome boys. Their mother (one of our employees) left them as orphans that evening. I am telling you...these two boys and I busted it out on the dance floor. It was hilarious! We tore it up! 

Eat Em Up Tigers!

Last night, we took an engaged couple from the Monday night coffee shop group to their very first Tigers game. Oh, what a game it was!

When we entered the 8th inning, I was nervous as all could be. If I could of paced back and forth, I would of. Instead, I just screamed loudly for my boys. I think I need to use my diaphragm more next time seeing that my voice did not sound the best today.

The Tigers had a perfect ending last night against the Boston Red Sox. Placido Polanco was at bat and all 38,000 people were on their feet rooting him on. He made beautiful contact with that ball which brought in the winning run. The Tigers had a sweet comeback victory in the 9th inning which landed us 10-9. We are now at 15 W and 20 L!

Now, what happened with the Pistons??? Poor Billups!
